The family business began with Jan Startman’s passion for hairdressing. Jan wanted to pass on the craft to others. He went to schools to pass on his passion for men’s hairdressing to future hairdressers. Because hairdressing really runs in his blood, Maurice, Jan’s son, joined the salon in 1990. Jan trained Maurice to the highest level with the thought that Maurice would take over the business.
After a time, Maurice took over the men’s business completely. However, Maurice did not settle for just a men’s salon, and converted the salon into a larger salon for both men and women. This new turn of the salon proved to be a great success! Consequently, Maurice’s professionalism did not go unnoticed. In the 90’s Maurice participated several times in national and international hairdressing competitions with unprecedented results, as he won several prizes! By winning these many prizes he also became part of the national team representing the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Maurice could regularly be found at fairs and large national bridal shows, where he provided the bridal hairstyles for the shows.
Because of his passion for the profession, he looked for other ways to show people the beautiful hairdressing profession. So at the end of 2007 he opened his 2nd salon in Hengelo. Meanwhile, The Hair Hub has grown to 28 salons throughout much of the Netherlands, each with its own identity. In each salon the cozy family feeling and quality are of paramount importance. For some time now Maurice’s children, Jesse and Amber, have also been working in the company. Their mother Daniëlle is also still working at The Hair Hub. This makes the family business complete. The Hair Hub always continues to grow and get the best out of every client. Thus, we take every customer into the fine family feeling: we are happy when you are too! We focus on the future and this we face confidently with our entire team!
